American Cockroach and Basement Camel Cricket Control

American cockroaches and camel crickets show up together in White Marsh because they want the same thing: cool, damp, dark concrete. In the older block-foundation houses around Cowenton and Whitemarsh Run, that means a basement corner near the sump, a bulkhead door with a rotted sweep, or a crawlspace with bare soil. Here is the decision that matters. If you are seeing one to three large roaches a week, usually at night, usually in the basement, laundry room or near a drain, this outside-in service is the correct fit: we treat harborage and entry, dry out the source, and stop the traffic. If you are seeing small tan roaches with two dark stripes running from behind the toaster or inside cabinet hinges in daylight, that is a German cockroach population breeding inside, and a basement perimeter treatment will not solve it — that job needs a gel-bait and monitor program in the kitchen and bath. Camel crickets follow the same logic in reverse: they never establish upstairs, so the trade-off is honest. Treating alone gets you a quiet basement for weeks to a couple of months. Treating plus fixing the humidity and sealing the gaps is what makes it stop being an annual event, and that second half sometimes means a dehumidifier or a regraded downspout that we will tell you about rather than sell you.

What we will not do: fog a finished basement blind, and never bait a moisture problem shut and call it handled. Camel crickets in particular are a symptom — they are telling you the relative humidity down there is high enough to matter to the house itself. We inspect first, name what we found, then treat.
